My first Camino Way sign at Porte St. Jacques in St-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France. The start of the Camino Frances. They call St. James, St. jacques in France. No going back now!
The sign at the gate.
Sunset over St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port the evening before I set out.
The Pyrenees lie ahead.
The communal dinner in Albergue Orisson.
Of all the people in this photo I can only say for sure that one finished in Santiago. Although I suspect many others did. Mostly before me, but perhaps some behind me as well. Many of course only planned to go some of the way.
Higher up the Pyrenees.
Always lots of crosses along The Way.
Snow marker poles near the top. Luckily no snow when I was there.
The refuge hut near the top.
The steep, long and tricky decent into Roncesvalles.
The sobering sign as we leave Roncesvalles the following morning. That's in Kilometers, not miles thankfully.
